Pop and football fans alike were in for the shock of a lifetime last month when the nation’s sweethearts, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, announced that they were officially engaged. The creative caption used to encapsulate this moment was: your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married, and honestly, everybody was ecstatic. The relationship between the football star and the pop star began in the summer of 2023 and took the world by storm. 

Their romance began, as explained on the Travis’ and his brother, Jason, podcast New Heights, when the football player insisted on seeing Taylor at one of her concerts simply because he wanted to meet her. The original plan was for Travis to pass off a signature friendship bracelet, a tradition that became popular at Swift concerts, but instead he walked away with more than just a bracelet. According to Swift on the New Heights Podcast, the football star was enchanted to meet her and blurted out, “I want to date you,” and the rest was history.

Their relationship immediately after the concert took over social media and NFL coverage alike with Swifties losing their minds every time the two were spotted in public. Fast-forward two years after their first meeting and the fan-based dream came true. The proposal took place in a beautiful garden located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and looked as dreamy as one of Taylor’s Eras Tour performances. Flowers surrounded the couple as Travis got on one knee and popped the question. 

The antique ring was an elongated cushion-cut diamond and was handcrafted in 18k gold. No official price for the ring has been discussed, but in an article published by author Brides Benjamin Khordipou, at Estate Diamond Jewellery, estimated the piece to be around $550,000. This ring was just the beginning of the world’s speculations about the wedding. The theories for the wedding dresses, bridesmaids and future drama are the hot topic of gossip sites, even though the couple hasn’t even been engaged a full month.

The leading theory is that the couple will participate in an intimate ceremony with the hopes of not drawing attention. However the question remains: will this be possible with the wedding being the most anticipated event of the year? Many are beginning to refer to it as the American version of a royal wedding, and it doesn’t seem too far from the truth. As Swifit’s song is titled, this relationship is truly “So Highschool” in the sense that it’s a classic love story from start to finish, and fans can’t wait to see what happens next. 

The royal fall started with the Duchess of Cambridge returning to work from maternity leave Oct. 2. She has been taking a break from her public engagements since the birth of her third child, Prince Louis, on April 23.

The Duchess’s first engagement was at the Sayers Croft Forest School and Wildlife Garden in London and was a casual and outdoorsy event. The visit offered Kate a low-key return to her high profile life.

Next on the royal agenda was the wedding of Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie of York, who married Mr. Jack Brooksbank. The pair, who have dated for seven years, tied the knot Oct. 12 at Windsor Castle. The famous bride stunned everyone in a long-sleeved gown by British-based designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos for her wedding and a blush-colored flowing gown by Zac Posen for her reception.

The Princess requested her wedding dress have a low back to show off her scars from a surgery she underwent when she was 12 to correct her severe scoliosis, or curvature of her spine. HRH even invited some of the doctors who helped her to her fairytale wedding.

The flowing wedding dress and sparkling emerald tiara drew rave reviews across the world. This is a royal redemption as both Princess Eugenie and her older sister Princess Beatrice received harsh criticism for their over-the-top looks at Prince William and Kate’s wedding in 2011.

Like all royal weddings, Eugenie and Jack’s big day was filled with beloved members of the royal family and A-list celebrities. Kate Middleton, Demi Moore and Cara Delevingne were consistently named as the best-dressed guests.

The royal family fever was turned up even more when, just three days after the royal wedding, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they are expecting a baby next spring.

The couple, who married last May, have been open about their desire for children. When asked about children in their post-engagement interview, Prince Harry responded, “Hopefully we’ll start a family in the near future.”

The parents-to-be received well wishes from all members of the royal family, with a spokesman for the queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate, and Meghan’s mother Doria all saying they are “delighted for the couple.”

The news came as an exciting start to a two-week long tour of Australia and New Zealand. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex even received their first baby present from their friends down under. At a welcoming ceremony at Admiralty House, they were given a stuffed kangaroo and baby Ugg boots.

Prince Harry and Meghan have a busy tour schedule centered around the opening of the Invictus Games, a foundation started by Prince Harry in 2013. The games are from combat veterans from all over the world to compete in sporting events. They serve as a way to begin the long process of healing and rebuilding after active duty.

Harry and Meghan’s first big tour will come to an end Nov. 1.
