1) Morning Day ($$)
This local restaurant serves organic and mostly health food. It also has plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. One of their best is the vegan burrito. Their vegetarian/vegan include a black bean quinoa burger, hummus dip with veggies, and quinoa encrusted falafel. They also have a lot of vegan protein smoothies that should definitely be on your list!
2) Chipotle/ Qdoba ($$)
Anyone can turn their burrito/ taco/ burrito bowl vegan by leaving out meat, cheese or sour cream. Chipotle’s tofu sofritas are a must try!
3) IHOP ($$)
Pancakes are a nice vegetarian option. Unfortunately, IHOP doesn’t have a lot of vegan options, but the house salad, seasonal fresh fruit, hash browns, plain baked potatoes and oatmeal for breakfast are available.
4) Taco Bell ($)
Taco Bell has plenty of vegan options, including the cinnamon twists, chips and guacamole, rice, black or refried beans, Mexican rice, bean burrito “fresco style,” the regular black bean burrito with no cheese or the veggie cantina power bowl with no sauce. Their 7-layer bean burrito is vegetarian. The tacos, nachos, Crunchwrap Supreme and Mexican pizza can always be made vegetarian if you ask for no meat.
5) Panera bread ($$)
Panera has some nice vegan options. Their garden vegetable soup without pesto and their black bean soup (with or without the bread bowl) are some vegetarian. They also have vegan salads, smoothies and bread.
6) Ginger Sue’s ($$)
They have a ton of vegetarian options including pancakes, breakfast burrito, veggie omelettes, crepes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, a black bean burger, taco salad and veggie wrap.
7) Local Mexican restaurants (Rancho Grande Cantina/Mi Hacienda/La Tienda Chiquita/La Costa Mexicana)
These are common vegetarian options in Mexican restaurants: veggie/cheese quesadillas, bean rice burritos, non meat nachos, bean/ cheese tostadas and cheese/veggie enchilada/ veggie fajitas. Most of these options can be made vegan if you ask for no cheese or sour cream. Chips and salsa or guac are also good vegan options.
8) Olive Garden ($$)
Their bread sticks are vegan, and their butter sauce is made of soy instead of dairy products. They have a lot of vegan pasta options that can be topped with tomato sauce.
9) Fast food restaurants ($)
You could always go for some good old fries at any fast food restaurants. Thank goodness all fries are vegan.
10) Vegetarian/Vegan pizza ($$)
The pizza sauce and dough at Little Caesars and Papa John’s are vegan. Also, Pizza Hut uses vegan marinara sauce, and its Thin ‘N Crispy Pizza crust is vegan. Make sure to ask for no cheese. If you’re a vegetarian, you could go for the cheese or veggie pizza.
11) Seva ($$$)
They have a special vegetarian menu with an option of turning it vegan if you ask. It includes gobi manchurian, vegetable masala, daal roti, saag, vegetable kadahi, chana masala, vegetable korma and squash and other bean-based appetizers.
12) Long boards ($$)
One of their best vegan options is the tofu and veggie hot noodle bowl. Their hummus and tofu Hawaiian sliders and hummus and veggies grilled flat wrap are good vegetarian options.
13) Red Robin ($$)
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers offers a hummus plate and a vegan burger.
14) Subway ($$)
Their Veggie Delite is vegan as long as long as you ask for no cheese or mayonnaise on it.
15) 54th Street Bar and Grill ($$)
They have a lot of vegetarian options including Gringo dips and chips, spinach and artichoke dip, veggie quesadilla, super nachos (make sure to request no meat), veggie fajita salad, southwest veggie wrap and veggie burger. Their veggie quesadilla made with vegetarian meat is definitely a must try!
