For the week of Sept. 30th there are several events planned at William Jewell College.
On Monday evening, the Student Nurses Association is having a fundraiser at the Chipotle in Liberty. It starts at 5 p.m., and if you mention you are there for SNA, they will receive a portion of the proceeds. This is a great opportunity to support a great organization while also getting some good food at the same time, so be sure to stop by Chipotle on Monday night.
Moving on to Tuesday, the volleyball team has a game against the University of Central Missouri at 7 p.m. in the Mabee Center. If you are in need of a break from homework Tuesday night, or if you don’t have anything else going on, be sure to come support the Jewell volleyball team.
Also on Tuesday is the story of Ricky Kidd, titled “I am Resiliency.” Kidd was wrongfully convicted of double murder in Kansas City in 1996 and was just released earlier this year. Kidd will talk about his story and an attorney from the Midwest Innocence Project will also speak starting at 7:30 p.m. in Yates-Gill College Union room 222.
On Wednesday there is another fundraiser, this time for Alpha Gamma Delta at Mod Pizza. Just like the previous fundraiser, mention AGD at checkout and a percentage of the profits will go toward their philanthropy, Fighting Hunger. This is another opportunity to support a great cause while also getting some good food.
Also on Wednesday is everybody’s favorite event, CUA at the Movies. If you have been wanting to see the new Joker movie but are broke, head to the B&B Northland 14 from 7-10 p.m. with your Jewell ID to see a free movie.
For any music lovers out there, the jazz band is performing Thursday at 6:30 p.m. They will be playing at the Trotter Arts Plaza, but if it rains the performance will move to the Forbis Recital Hall. Come out to support the jazz band and listen to some good music.
Wrapping up the week on Saturday is a football game. Jewell will be playing the University of Indianapolis at 1 p.m. Hopefully we get better weather than we did for the homecoming game, but regardless, let’s be sure to get Greene Stadium loud for the football team.
