If you are looking to get involved on campus, or need an excuse to procrastinate homework, be sure to mark these events on your calendar.
First off, Lambda Chi Alpha’s Watermelon Bust was rescheduled to Tuesday the 17th due to inclement weather. T-shirts are being sold in the Yates-Gill College Union from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. leading up to the event. This event will support Feeding America, and smashing watermelons is a great way to relieve the stress of college. If you want to have a good time while supporting a great cause, go to the First-Year Triangle at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Another event on Tuesday is a lecture hosted by the political science department. Ambassador Allan Katz, founder of American Public Square and William Jewell distinguished visiting professor, will host a lecture entitled “American Public Square at Jewell: Bringing Civility Back to Public Discourse in Our Community.” This lecture will take place in Yates-Gill College Union in rooms 221-222 at 7 p.m.
For anyone looking for jobs, there will be a resume workshop hosted by Career Development and Internships. Make sure your resume is the best it can be for upcoming interviews. Stop by room 221 in the Union on Wednesday during Jewell Time to get help making a resume that will stand out and impress employers.
For fans of horror or people ready for Halloween, there will be a premiere party for “American Horror Story: 1984.” Stop by the second floor Mathes lobby on Wednesday at 9 p.m. to enjoy an evening of scares and snacks.
The men’s and women’s soccer teams are playing on Friday. Both teams are playing against Quincy University. The women’s team plays at 5 p.m. and the men’s game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Be sure to stop by Greene stadium on Friday to support the soccer teams.
Finally, this Saturday there is a great volunteer opportunity with Serve and Celebrate. Meet at Gano Chapel at 8 a.m. to divide into teams and work on different service projects all over the community. This is a chance for Jewell to show love and support to the community.
